What is Curious World?

Curious World is an app that delivers hundreds of fun and educational videos, games, and books to kids ages 2-7. Every video, game, and book is mapped to one or more of eight key learning areas, which are designed to help ensure your children are prepared for kindergarten and beyond. New content is added regularly to ensure there's always more to learn and explore!

Why subscribe to Curious World?

  • Early learning content, expertly selected: Curious World is specifically designed to deliver playful learning experiences across eight key learning areas for children of ages 2-7.
  • Unlimited access to content: Subscribers get access to a curated, expansive collection of fun and educational videos, books, and games. New activities are added monthly, so your child won’t run out of new experiences!
  • Personalized to your child: Content is tailored to your child’s age.
  • Parents can track their children's interests and exposure to learning areas: The Grownup Dashboard provides a summary of your child’s activity, preferences, and the learning areas they’re gaining the most exposure to within Curious World. If your child loves math games, prefers reading books about animals, and / or enjoys watching videos about jobs, the Grownup Dashboard will let you know.

Is Curious World safe for kids?

  • Absolutely. The Curious World app is completely ad-free with no links to the web. We don’t sell or otherwise provide any personal information or data about your child to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for more information.
  • Curious World engages learning experts to review its content and activities to ensure they are age-appropriate, educational, and fun!

Where can I get Curious World?

  • The Curious World app is currently available for iPhones and iPads running iOS 8.0+ and can be downloaded from the App Store.
  • The Curious World Apple TV app is still under transition from HMH. It will be up and running soon.
  • Curious World is not currently available on Android devices, but it's coming soon!
  • Parents can also follow their child’s app activity, interests, and content preferences on the Grownup Dashboard, which is available within the app or by logging on to the Curious World website.

Is Curious World free?

  • The app provides a limited range of preselected games, books, and videos for free.
  • A subscription is required to gain access to the full collection of books, games and videos, as well as the ability to personalize and track Curious World for up to 4 children through the Grownup Dashboard.
  • In order to get unlimited access to all of Curious World's high-quality content, sign up for a free trial in the Curious World app by clicking on the 'Grownup Menu' icon and selecting a subscription plan. You will not be charged until your free trial expires and you can cancel at any time.

Is Curious World available internationally?

  • The Curious World app is currently only available in the United States. However, we are planning to make it available in additional countries soon!

How does the subscription work?

  • You can sign up for a free trial through the iOS app. You will have unlimited access to the full content library and features during the trial period.
  • If you love the app, no action is required - your account will be automatically charged at the end of your free trial and will auto-renew at the end of your subscription period.
  • If you want to cancel, you may do so at any time and will not be charged if you cancel prior to the end of the free trial period.
  • If you cancel before the end of the current billing cycle, you will continue to have access to your subscription for the remainder of the current term.
  • Note: your subscription will be cancelled at the end of current billing cycle and subscription fees cannot be refunded on a prorated basis (including for partial or unused portions of any already paid-for subscription period).

How do I change my password?

In order to change your password, please use the reset password feature or contact the customer service team by emailing customerservice@curiousworld.com.

How do I change my billing information?

  • As your subscription is managed through Apple, you will need to alter your billing information within your Apple account. We have no access to your financial information.

How do I cancel my subscription?

  • We’re sorry you wish to cancel! If you have comments or suggestions on how we can improve our service, we would love to hear them. You can contact us by email (customerservice@curiousworld.com) or social media.
  • If you subscribed using the Curious World app and wish to cancel, please open the settings on your iPhone / iPad / AppleTV:
    1. Scroll down and tap on 'iTunes & App Store'
    2. Tap on your Apple ID
    3. Tap on 'View Apple ID'
    4. Tap on 'Manage' under Subscriptions
    5. Tap on the name of the subscription you'd like to cancel or modify
    6. Tap on 'Cancel Subscription' and 'Confirm'
  • If you subscribed using the Curious World website and wish to cancel, please email us at customerservice@curiousworld.com. You should receive a response and confirmation within 48 hours.
  • If you cancel before the end of the current billing cycle, you will continue to have access to your subscription for the remainder of the current term.

What is Kidsy?

  • Kidsy is a company based in the UK that owns and operates Curious World. Curious World was acquired by Kidsy in mid-2018 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), a US publishing company, which developed Curious World.

What does Curious World’s ownership change mean for me during the transition?

  • Firstly, thank you for your support as we work through this transitional period! We are so excited to get to work on Curious World and start making it better than ever.
  • If you subscribed through the app, or through iTunes or the App Store, your subscription will continue to run as normal. We will not have any access to your billing information.
  • If you subscribed through the website, your subscription will no longer automatically renew. When your current subscription period finishes, you’ll need to re-subscribe through the app.
  • You’ll be asked to change your password the first time you log in after July 10th; this is because your password is stored in an encrypted format, making it difficult to transfer. Once you reset your password, it will be stored in a new encrypted format on our systems.

Why do I need to change my password?

  • Curious World has recently been acquired by Kidsy. Because your password is stored in an encrypted format, it isn’t possible to transfer it along with information like your email address. By asking you to reset your password, we can then store your new password in another secure, encrypted format on our own systems.

Why can I no longer subscribe through the website?

  • When Curious World moved from HMH to Kidsy, we decided to remove the web subscription capability. All subscriptions must now be taken out through the Curious World app. Any current web subscriptions will run to the end of their term, and customers will then need to re-subscribe through the app.

Why can't I see any content?

  • There is a bug in the app which means that if the age in your child's profile is younger than 2, or older than 8, content is not showing up. A patch for this will be going live in the next app update, but to see content immediately, please follow these steps to edit you child's profile:
    1. Click on your child's avatar on the home screen of the app
    2. Tap 'Edit/Delete'
    3. Tap 'Edit' on the child profile for which content is not showing up (you may then be shown an 'age-gate' to prove you're an adult)
    4. Tap on the date field on the 'Edit child' page which comes up
    5. Select a new birth date by scrolling through (e.g. 13th July 2011)
    6. Click 'Next'
    7. Click 'Done'
    8. Content should now be visible on your screen - this will be age-appropriate, so if you entered a birthday showing that your child is currently 3, it will show content for 3-year-olds.

What should I do if I am unable to log in?

  • If you don't know your password, you can reset it on this page.
  • If you have forgotten your username (which is the email address you signed up with), please contact customerservice@curiousworld.com with any email addresses you think you may have used and we will check to see if any have accounts associated with them.
  • If the app is not letting you log in, please update the app through the App Store and try again.
  • If this doesn't work, please delete the app and then re-install it from the App Store.
  • If you are then still unable to access Curious World, please contact customerservice@curiousworld.com and we will investigate further.

Why isn't the Apple TV app working?
